Alia Bhatt Recalls Soni Razdan Felt Like A Horrible Mother After Watching Her With Raha Kapoor; Says, “I Am So Conscious Of My Daughter’s Screen Time”

Actress Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor welcomed their first child, Raha Kapoor, in 2022. As a mother, Alia is mindful of Raha’s screen time and recently shared that this concern made her mother, Soni Razdan, reflect on her own parenting. Soni has admitted that seeing Alia’s cautious approach made her question whether she had been too lenient, as she had allowed Alia to spend a lot of time in front of the television during childhood.

Alia Bhatt Reveals Mother Soni Razdan’s Thoughts About Parenting

This realization left Soni feeling guilty, highlighting how parenting perspectives evolve across generations. Speaking to Jay Shetty, Alia Bhatt stated, “I was fascinated by television. That’s something I remember very clearly from when I was growing up. In fact, my mum and I speak about it right now because she said, ‘My god, was I a horrible mother?’ Because right now, I’m so conscious of my daughter’s screen time. Not like she’s had any major screen time at all, she’s not even looked at the iPad.”

“Even if she’s watching a song on the television, I’m like, we should limit the time. My mother said, ‘Was I a horrible mother? Because we just let you be in front of the TV… that’s what seemed normal at the time.’ I was like, no, you weren’t horrible. It was a new phenomenon at that time, perhaps,” the Jigra actress added.

Alia concluded, “But, I’m grateful that she didn’t stop me from being in front of the television because a lot of my dreaming and imagining and getting lost in the world started from there.”
